Checking It Twice
Collecting and reflecting back the lists of others has helped catapult me past “small talk” with other humans. I monumentalize selections from my growing collection of ephemera through processes that yield multiples such as lithography, etching, silkscreen, ink-jet printing, and temporary tattoos, as well as a technique yielding one-of-a-kind works that combines drawing and printmaking processes with ceramic media. Alternatively additive and reductive, I call this process inlaid burnishing clay. By using the palette of ancient Greek ceramics, I hope to encourage the kind of attentive study of the stuff of life today that is fostered by vitrines in museums that display evidence of what ancient daily life entailed.
