Need to let something go? The 5th Iteration of my Emotional Value Auction will be held Saturday, July 16 from 1-4 pm during Charlotte Street's Community Block Party. DETAILS IN THE NEXT TWO SLIDES or in this press release.

Capitalizing on the power of witnessing to release blocks and facilitate letting go, an Emotional Value Auction is a participatory witnessed exchange grounded in reciprocity. For the iteration during Charlotte Street's 25th Anniversary Community Block Party, objects will be collected and displayed by Experience Broker and 2000 Charlotte Street Award winner& 2014-15 Artist-In-Residence, Adriane Herman, along with written statements from the objects’ owners about how they came to own the item and why it is time to let go.
Written statements of interest from viewers replace financial bids, foregrounding other metrics of value. Authentic written expression and shared vulnerability are rewarded and are rewards in themselves.
To release something through this event, contact the artist at emotionalvalueauction@gmail.com ASAP.
Objects can be delivered to the Charlotte Street welcome desk at 3333 Wyoming Street in Kansas City, MO from 12 PM-5 PM Tues-Sat until July 10th, or later by arrangement. Releasers* are asked to email a photo** of the item as well as a written statement about what the item is, how you came to have it, why it is time to let go and anything else you wish to share about it. This statement can be as long or short as you wish.
*Releasers don’t have to be present during the Auction and do not have to be able to imagine why someone else would want the item -- leave space for alchemy, as one person's burden is often another person's opportunity.
**If the photo is an obstacle, the artist will take one.
